Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

For our Early Years children, Becky and Natalia share the role of key person. We ensure a child is settled, feels confident in finding what they need or want to play with independently, and is comfortable asking for help if they need it.

Getting to know you

A big part of our job is getting to know each child as a person; we thoroughly enjoy developing meaningful relationships with all the children we spend time with.

We also chat with new parents/ carers to get to know them and build an honest working relationship.

Communication is key to effectively supporting parents/carers and children from when they first start school, right up until they move on to secondary school.

Observing and adapting

When reception children start with us, we note any observations as a starting point. What are they good at? What do they need help with? How can we support that?

Through these regular observations, we plan learning opportunities and care that support an individual child’s needs, e.g. helping their confidence to talk to other people, or creating a space for them to relax.

Feedback

We always feed back any home communications to school and vice versa.

If a child would benefit from us talking to the school for any reason, we ask for parental permission first, so we can provide consistent support together (this may include specific specialist support).
