Play Worker Job Specification
Kudize Club, East and West Sussex
Setting: Ditchling Primary School, Hassocks Infant School, Windmills Junior School, Wivelsfield Primary School (meet our current team!)
Salary: Up to £13.40per hour (qualified)
Hours: Term time between 2.30pm – 5.30pm, Mon – Fri
School holidays between 8am – 5pm, Mon – Fri
Our preferred candidates will have:
● Experience working with children aged 4 -12 yrs (but not essential, as training can be provided)
● Level 2 Playwork or higher or Level 2 Childcare and Education or higher (but not essential, as access to training can be provided)
● First aid qualification
● Training in behaviour management
● Experience and knowledge of safeguarding practice
● Experience in a similar role, e.g. teaching assistant, nursery assistant, other childcare or care settings
Essential Skills and Requirements:
● Passion for working with children
● Good timekeeping and organisation skills
● Access to your own vehicle, as our sites are based in rural settings
● Strong communication skills with adults and children alike, written and verbal
● Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with colleagues and parents
● Enthusiasm and ability to engage in all manner of activities, including sports, and both indoor and outdoor play
Individual and Team Responsibilities:
● Engage children and make the time in the club fun for all
● Assist with meals/ snack times
● Ensure health and safety/ safeguarding standards are met
● Liaise with parents and school
● Ensure high-quality childcare is being provided at all times
● Have emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
● Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the children at all times
